Congregational singing and choral
and instrumental music by adults and children play vital roles in our liturgies
in both our parishes’ churches.
The Church of St. Joseph has a state of the art digital organ, installed in
2000, and recently expanded by a sound module of countless additional organ,
keyboard and orchestral voices.
A variety
of cantors help lead singing in this church at the 4 p. m. Saturday Vigil
Eucharist and at the 8 a. m liturgy on Sundays.
A children’s choir rehearses seasonally
and sings in both churches on major solemnities, feasts and holy days.
Organ for St. John the
Evangelist
The Church of St. John the Evangelist boasts one of the finest pipe organs
in the Capital District. Erected in 1975 and weighing some 15-20 tons, its
appraised value is now nearly 2 million dollars.
A
cantor helps lead singing at the 10 a. m. Sunday Eucharist in this church.
Parish and guest instrumentalists have played, including flautists, guitarists
and trumpeters. An adult choir sings regularly at this liturgy September-June,
rehearsing at 7 p. m. on Tuesdays.
